Hey , I have a dream that my 3 kids will represent the USA in soccer.

(I know, it’s totally unlikely to happen but it’s a dream worth going for none the less)

For Christmas, I bought them a PC with EA FC so that they can learn the game of soccer from a different angle.

We logged in, ready to play… and immediately got hit with a screen:

“Stay In Touch”

Asking if EA could share my data with a bunch of partner companies including.

Leagues & clubs, Advertising Partners, Service providers and more.

My kids clicked through without thinking.

But I sat there for a minute.

Here’s what I realized:

EA Sports isn’t just selling video games.

They’re selling ME- my data.

Every person who buys EA FC becomes a lead they can monetize again and again—without doing any extra work.

They already acquired the customer.

They already have the data.

Now they’re just… renting it out.

Smart.

Really smart.

And it got me thinking about the 7-figure entrepreneurs I coach.

Here are the 3 lessons:

Lesson 1: You’re Sitting on a Goldmine You’re Not Mining

Most entrepreneurs stuck at $2M-$5M are obsessed with getting MORE.

More leads.

More traffic.

More ads.

More content.

But EA isn’t trying to get more gamers.

They’re extracting more value from the gamers they already have.

Think about it:

You’ve spent years (and probably hundreds of thousands) acquiring customers.

Those customers trust you.

They’ve bought from you.

They’re engaged with you.

And you’re just… letting them sit there?

What partners would pay to access YOUR customer base?

What complementary products or services could you introduce—without creating anything new yourself?

That’s CEO thinking.

Operators ask: “How do I get more leads?”

CEOs ask:

“How do I maximize the value of leads I already have?”

Lesson 2: The Fastest Path to More Revenue Is Usually a Partnership

Here’s what EA didn’t do:

They didn’t build a gaming accessories company.

They didn’t start a sports betting platform.

They didn’t launch an energy drink brand.

They partnered with companies who already had those things.

EA provides the audience. Partners provide the offer. Everyone wins.

Remember the Michael Dell story I’ve shared before?

Dell went from $33M to $60M in 12 months…

Not by working harder, but by partnering with Honeywell to offer on-site servicing.

Same principle.

The question isn’t “What else can I build?”

The question is: “Who already has what my customers need?”

That’s the difference between adding more to your plate…

and adding more to your bank account.

Lesson 3: This Only Works If You’re NOT Drowning in Operations

Here’s the thing…

EA can run partnership programs because they have systems.

They have teams managing these relationships.

Dashboards tracking performance.

Processes for onboarding new partners.

They’re not stuck IN the business. They’re working ON the business.

But most 7-figure entrepreneurs?

They’re too busy answering “quick questions” from their team.

Too busy doing $50/hour work when their time is worth $2,000/hour.

They don’t have the bandwidth to think strategically about partnerships.

They’re surviving, not scaling.

Here’s what I see with 7-figure entrepreneurs stuck at $2M-$5M:

They’re working harder than ever.

Running more ads.

Creating more content.

Hiring more people.

All addition.

But the entrepreneurs who scale toward $1M/month?

They’re asking different questions:

“What revenue am I leaving on the table with existing customers?”

“Who could I partner with to add revenue without adding work?”

“What do I need to remove from MY plate so I can think like a CEO?”

That’s the transition. Operator → CEO.

And it starts with stepping back from operations long enough to see the goldmine you’re sitting on.

If you’re doing $1M+ per year in revenue…

And you’re stuck because you’re still too deep in operations to think strategically…

P.S.

Unfortunately, my kids aren’t any good at EA FC so they’re not much of a challenge for me- yet.

But at least I walked away with a strategy insight worth sharing.

What insights are YOU missing because you’re too busy playing Operator instead of CEO?
