A couple of months ago, I was on a plane home from Canada.

I pulled up Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning to kill some time.

And I couldn’t believe what I was watching.

Tom Cruise—at 61 and 62 years old when this was filmed—was sprinting across rooftops, jumping off cliffs, fighting like a man half his age.

And I’m sitting there at 40 thinking:

“I couldn’t do half of that.”

So I started researching him.

How does someone stay at the top of their game for 40 years as an A-list actor?

How does someone maintain that level of health, performance, and success at 62?

And I found something that completely changed how I coach 7-figure entrepreneurs.

THE QUOTE

In an interview, Tom Cruise said:

“It’s not what I do, it’s who I am. It’s my passion and interest.”

Then he broke down his process:

“Set a goal. Make a list of everything you’ll need to know, to learn, and to be in order to achieve that goal. Then align with your team.”

3 sentences.

And it’s the exact framework I use with my clients to help them scale toward $1M/month.

LESSON 1: IT’S NOT WHAT YOU DO—IT’S WHO YOU ARE

Tom Cruise doesn’t say “I’m going to act in movies.”

He says “It’s who I am.”

That’s identity.

When you watch him at 62—still doing his own stunts, still outperforming actors half his age—it’s not because he “works out.”

It’s because being in peak physical condition is part of his identity.

Same with building a business.

Most 7-figure entrepreneurs set a goal: “$1M/month.”

Then they jump straight to tactics:

  • Should I hire?

  • Should I run more ads?

  • Should I launch a new offer?

But they never asked:

Who do I need to BE to run a $1M/month business?

That’s the DECIDE phase.

Before strategy. Before tactics.

You have to decide:

  • What’s your vision for your life?

  • What’s your company’s mission?

  • What are your core values?

  • What are YOUR goals?

Because if you don’t know who you are and what you’re building toward…

You’ll chase someone else’s definition of success.

And you’ll scale yourself into a nightmare.

LESSON 2: MAKE A LIST OF EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW, LEARN, AND BE

Tom Cruise doesn’t just “show up and act.”

He learns how to fly helicopters.

He trains for months to do underwater stunts.

He maps out every dangerous scene in excruciating detail.

He becomes the person capable of executing the mission.

That’s the DEFINE phase.

What do you need to KNOW to hit $1M/month?

  • Your numbers. Your funnel. Your margins.

  • What do you need to LEARN?
  • New skills. New systems. New strategies.

  • What do you need to BE?
  • The CEO who leads the team. The strategist who sees three moves ahead.

Most entrepreneurs skip this step.

They just start doing stuff.

And they wonder why they’re spinning their wheels.

LESSON 3: ALIGN WITH YOUR TEAM

Tom Cruise has stunt coordinators, directors, trainers, and a massive crew.

But they can only help him if they know where he’s going.

“Then align with your team.”

That’s the DO phase.

Execution. Accountability. Weekly check-ins.

Everyone rowing in the same direction toward the same goal.

Not just “go do stuff.”

But aligned, focused execution.

HERE’S WHAT TO DO

I’ve built this into a complete system called the 3D Scaling System.

DECIDE → DEFINE → DO.

It’s how I help 7-figure entrepreneurs scale toward $1M/month without sacrificing their life, their margin, or their peace.

And I’ve put the entire framework into a free resource called the 8-Figure Scaling Playbook. It walks you through:

  • The DECIDE phase (vision, mission, values, goals)

  • The DEFINE phase (strategy, systems, scale path)

  • The DO phase (execution, accountability, weekly check-ins)

It’s the same framework Tom Cruise uses.

It’s the same framework I use with my clients.

And it works.

P.S.

Tom Cruise at 62 is in better shape than most 30-year-olds.

Not because he “tries hard.”

Because it’s who he is.

What if you approached your business the same way?

Not “What do I need to DO to hit $1M/month?”

But “Who do I need to BE?”
